Chad Hadfield is a woodturner and artist whose work is deeply inspired by the natural beauty of Michigan’s rivers and forests. Specializing in hand-turned wooden bowls, vases, and lidded boxes, Chad creates each piece with a focus on form, balance, and the warmth of natural wood.
Working primarily with locally sourced and renewable materials, Chad’s process honors the character of each piece of wood—its texture, imperfections, and story. His work is both functional and sculptural, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern tools and an appreciation for simplicity and organic form.
In 2022, Chad and his wife, Shelley, founded Riverview Woodcraft, a family-owned and operated business located along the banks of the Shiawassee River in Bancroft, Michigan. Through Riverview Woodcraft, Chad shares his passion for thoughtful, sustainable design with a growing community of collectors and nature lovers.
What began as a love for woodworking has grown into a lifelong artistic pursuit: creating pieces that invite touch, inspire calm, and connect people with the richness of nature.
