Joining GLAG is simple: send us 4-8 images or drop off 4 – 8 samples of your art for our jury to see. Normally you will receive our answer in 1 week or less. Once approved, we find a place for you, sign the lease and you are ready to set up your display.

There is an annual membership fee, a refundable deposit of $50.  Monthly rent starts at $25 (depending on the size of your display area), and a 10% fee from your total sales each month to cover credit card fees and other gallery expenses.

No. Other than the costs mentioned above, all your sales go directly to you.

Yes, the initial obligation is for 4 months, after which you can continue month-to-month.  You MUST give written notice to the General Mgr. or a Board Member at least 30 days prior to leaving to receive your refundable deposit.

Artists must work alone at the gallery for two 4-hour shifts each month and will be trained for two shifts prior to working alone.  Each artist must also work two Festival shifts during the calendar year.  Artists are also expected to assist in other ways (i.e. help with window displays or other gallery duties as needed).  

Running the POS system, completing routine paperwork, and doing light cleaning/dusting as needed.  Engaging with customers as you can, without being intrusive.  During your shift, handle the gallery in the presence of customers as if it were your own.  Warmth and friendliness are the characteristics that make Old Town and GLAG unique and generate repeat customers.

There are two options available: if you have a Michigan Sales Tax License, you may elect to file and remit on your own.  You may also elect to have GLAG file and remit for you.  Please ask for details.

Monthly sales will be auto deposited into your bank account by the 15th of the month.  Statements and your tags will be available at the gallery by the 15th of the month, as well.

Rent is due by the 15th of the current month for the next month (i.e. June rent is due by May 15th).  Rent can be paid by check, cash or credit card.  If paid by credit card, a $3.00/mo. fee will be added.

 Photograph 5-8 pieces of your work and email us at glagoldtown@gmail.com.  We will distribute the images to our jurors for evaluation.  Make sure to include your name, phone number, email, images, a price range for your items, and any other information you would like the jury to know.  The jury process usually takes less than one (1) week.
